The Truth About Detox

Many people think that detox is just starvation. They think of detox as just another of today’s buzzwords and not a means to gain or even regain health.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

However, it is very important that it is done correctly.

We are surrounded by toxins and chemicals daily. They are in our food, our water, in our air, and almost everything around us (unless we manage to live surrounded by nature).

We wash and bathe with products laced with chemicals, then use chemical laden makeup and skin preparations, hair products, shaving products, and more chemicals to smell good, soften our skin, treat our blemishes, and much, much more. Our skin is soaking up these chemicals daily.

We are given vaccines and amalgam fillings full of mercury, water and air laced with lead and other heavy metals, drink water contaminated with fluoride and chlorine and eat food that is being regularly sprayed with harmful toxic chemicals.

All of these toxins put pressure on our body’s resources and interfere with optimum health.

The purpose of a detox is to cleanse the body of these toxic substances (as well as accumulated waste) in order to allow the body to heal itself and restore balance.

Detox provides a rest for the gut and organs, a break from fighting off this constant overload of toxins and to be able to spend time healing, rebuilding and replenishing.

It is becoming clear that our gut is what really controls our health and well-being. If our gut is not working well, we cannot assimilate the vitamins & minerals, fats, proteins and carbohydrates from our food.

A good detox will clean up the gut first, followed by the organs, the blood and the lymph.

Part of a detox involves clearing out debris from the gut whist providing the body maximum nutrition that doesn’t require the digestive system to do much work. A good detox will provide organic toxin free easy to digest nutrition which can replenish the gut flora naturally, sometimes with the help of probiotics and plenty of clean water to cleanse and hydrate.

Supplement formulas may be used for cleaning out the intestinal tract, old waste and any parasites.
Juices and smoothies, made with organic vegetables and high quality nutritional powders are an excellent means to provide the body with all the nutrients it needs while allowing the digestive tract to rest.

Treatments are suggested during a good detox such as lymphatic massage, sauna, colonic irrigation, colonics massage and any form of massage.

Some form of gentle exercise such as yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong are often used.

Detoxing a minimum of twice a year is suggested. Whether you embark on a short detox and cleanse or go all out and detox for 2 weeks, your body will be grateful.
